Smoked Salmon Pâté Ingredients

The ingredients for making Salmon Pate laid out on a counter top.
  • Smoked salmon – Get a pack of trimmings or offcuts is fine as these are usually more affordable.
  • Cream cheese – Unflavoured cream cheese is all you need here. Full or reduced fat is fine.
  • Lemon – I use whole zest and half juice here.
  • Horseradish Sauce – Just 2 teaspoons really adds flavour here.
  • Season – A little salt and pepper to taste.

How to make Smoked Salmon Pâté

A food processor with salmon pate ingredients inside, for step 1 in the recipe.

1. Add the ingredients, apart from the salt and pepper, into the processor.

2. Pulse everything together a few times until smooth. Don’t over blend! Season to taste and serve with a wedge of lemon.

Storing

In the fridge You can keep this recipe in the fridge for up to 3 days.

You can also freeze Smoked Salmon Pâte with cream cheese. If you’re taking it as a packed lunch, just remove a portion from the freezer in the morning and it should be ready to eat by lunchtime.

Be sure it’s fully defrosted and mix thoroughly before serving.

Tools for the job

My secret weapon for any recipes with citrus zest in is my Microplane Premium Zester. I know I’m a wimp but I used to hate making anything with lemon zest in before splashing out on one of these.

When freezing the salmon into individual portions, I put them into small Tupperware containers like these: 200ml lunch storage containers on Amazon.
