I just had to make a Slow Cooker Marry Me Chicken version of this family favourite for those days when time is a struggle and we can benefit from prepping earlier in the day.

It’s so creamy and full of lots of flavours. You can add it to rice, pasta or even be cheeky and add it to chips! Thank you for sharing this recipe.

Sarah’s Notes
You may already be familiar with this Tuscan-style creamy dish from my other variations on Marry Me Chicken, but in case you don’t know…
I adapted my own version of this dish a while ago (so good it’ll make your diners want to marry you, as the story goes).
I thought it would lend itself perfectly to my slow cooker collection, and after plenty of testing, I was right!
Unlike my pasta dishes, this one will probably need a side dish to go with it. There are a few ideas below, or keep things simple with some microwave rice just before serving.
Slow Cooker Marry Me Chicken Ingredients

- Chicken – We’re using 650g/1.4lb of skinless and boneless breasts for this recipe, which is about 4 breasts, cut into bite-sized chunks.
- Sun dried tomatoes – The type in an oil-filled jar, not the dry ones.
- Garlic – I use peeled and crushed fresh garlic here, but feel free to use pre-prepared from a jar or frozen.
- Chicken stock cube – Just add this to the slow cooker with the water measured, no need to dilute further.
- To stir in once cooked – Cream cheese, grated parmesan, fresh basil, sea salt and ground black pepper.
How to make Slow Cooker MArry Me Chicken

In the fridge You can keep this recipe cooked in the fridge for 3 days. Reheat fully in the microwave or on the hob before serving.
In the freezer Creamy sauces don’t freeze overly well and the chicken would be a little dry when you’re reheating it from frozen, however I wouldn’t let it go to waste. If freezing is your best option, you can do so, it may need a little extra liquid (water) to be added as you reheat it.

FAQs
Yes, sure. Just swap the cream cheese and parmesan for dairy-free alternatives and you’re good to go.
I became aware of it to start with on Pinterest and Tik Tok. I looked at lots of online recipes and discovered that this chicken-in-a-vaguely-Italian-style-cream-sauce was coined by American food publication Delish, because it was even better than Ina Garten’s much-loved ‘Engagement Roast Chicken’ recipe (who is a national foodie treasure in the US) – according to Today.
I decided to have a go at it, but with my own tweaks that I thought it needed, while keeping the main ingredients in common with the original: chicken, cream, sun dried tomatoes and parmesan (although I have swapped cream for cream cheese for the slow cooker version so there’s no curdling.)
While I love the chicken recipe on its own, the flavours are so adaptable, which is why making this a super family friendly meal is so achievable.
The Morphy Richards Sear & Stew Slow Cooker is my all-time favourite because you can use it for initial browning on the hob and it’s really light.
I wrote up a whole slow cooker review though, where you might find another one to suit your needs. Have a read here.

This recipe was perfection!!! I needed to use up some veggies so I threw in some cherry tomatoes in with the chicken, and some baby spinach in with the cheese. In the end I mixed in cooked egg noodles. My whole family loved it! My little boys even had seconds.
It was easy. It lacked flavor pretty badly. Don’t think you’ll get a proposal after making this.
what is the serving size?
Lovely and tender ! Highly recommend
Guys, just made this, however, it turned out a wee bit ‘watery’. Pretty sure I measured correctly and the only thing I can think of was it cooked for an extra 45mins(tea towel was in place to catch the condensation). Any ideas?
This dish is really delicious. The family love it. Thank you for making my life easier.
Thanks Alison!
Has anyone made without the flour? Due to make today and forgot to get the flour I only have self raising
I wouldn’t use self raising in this instance (it would be fine if you were frying, it might even be nicer). In the slow cooker it will likely be gluey/chalky. Some other substitutes if you don’t have flour:
– cornflour
– arrow root flour
– potato starch
– chickpea flour (gram)
– ground flax seeds
– oat flour
This was so delicious… I’ve made it twice in the last two weeks!!!
Why wouldn’t you add precise measurements or at least an approximation for the salt and pepper in the flour?? I’ll revise my rating if it turns out okay but imprecise recipes really burn me.
If I use fresh chicken stock instead of a stock cube, how much do I need? I want to make it baby/toddler friendly so no salt or very little.
Thanks
I JUST made this for my baby and instead used boiling chicken broth low sodium organic instead of the boiling water and the chicken cube!! I made it for my baby and 4 other friends and everyone raved about it!
Just add a normal stock cube but don’t add any other salt. That’s what i did when mine were small. If you think how big the overall dish is and how much they will physically eat, they’re not going to get that much of the salt x
